MONTHLY FORECAST FOR JUNE 2018

Dear Reader

I start with apologies to the North Node in Leo, since I bring you a somewhat late update, and since I'm an astrologer and I tend to live in the future, would you kindly find it in you to forgive me?

Mercury is riling everyone up, getting their hands to turn into quills and pens, flowing forth with great ideas, conversations and much inspiration to carve out from the self, a greater selfhood.

I'm a great fan of Johnny Depp, whose birthday it is on 9th June. I haven't looked at his chart yet, but I derive a lot of inspiration from his work and he's a fine example of the craftsmanship attitudes of Geminis.

Before I proceed into all the juicy gossip flowing out from an eternally chatty Gemini, let me remind you that the moon calendars we have been working on which combine ancient Vedic and modern western astrology are out. It's a great privilege to be a student- learner in the Sagittarius archetype scrolling through such works as the Surya Siddhanta and so many other treatises on the art and science of astrology, thanks to Jupiter in Scorpio this year.

This month here, we get to study how the art of conversation can actually be more interesting than the technologically overdriven world. Yes, Mars in Aquarius raises many questions about the actual use of technology in our lives and whether this is of any use to us, considering there is a great deal of urgency about many matters related to the appropriate use of tech, it's social interference in the form of social media and its attendant privacy issues.

For instance, as we have spoken about earlier, Elon Musk is driving a lot of people wild on twitter with his updates about his inspired ideas for the future. Mars in Aquarius gives this idea support, but Saturn in Capricorn is cranky, throws many hurdles into the picture, in the form of hierarchical debates. This is a good example of how how Saturn works when he is forced to contend with powerful Venus transits, which are in turn influenced by Uranus in Taurus, which has also recently entered this part of the zodiac. Many astrologers think that the revolution is around money, but Venus has all along been telling us that the matter is as simple as that, but also just as complicated.

The water triplicity in the chart of the moment shows us how Neptune in Pisces is having a field day with Venus in Cancer, since they are both in feminine signs and to add to the topping, we also have Jupiter in Scorpio. As the recently deceased Anthony Bourdain, who will be missed, observes, in a one of his funnier quotes, if you want to please everyone, don't be a cook, be an ice-cream salesman. As Chiron who has recently entered Aries reminds us, mental health, related to the head, matters. It matters a lot. And we all ought to create the right circumstances for living out our lives in someplace,  that's not so dystopian.

Interestingly, I also came across an interpretation of the Chiron transit of Aries as one having to do with the idea of self-promotion, since Aries rules the head and the face. I read that Minerva, who is an asteroid, along with other wonderful asteroids like Pallas, Athenae, Juno and Vesta, to name a few, is one who is focused on bringing out the best in us. I really rather liked the energies associated with this sharpness and fine-tuning, it is like a suit of cards that Minerva holds in her capable hands, to help us understand more about how to win. This has had a direct effect on me since reading it only a few hours ago, and I've found myself actively participating in newer ways of using technology and the craft of expression, which has been very good to win confidence back in my own instance, in ability and its relationship with the self in the context of the differently-abled. I got so pushed to the corner that I was trying to hide in, that it caused me to jump out of my excuses and actually create a stir.

This month is really amazing if you have never tried your hand at something like craft, writing, using your imagination to manouver ideas and working with details. There is a intricate web of poetry running through the busy and sometimes unsurpassable speed of the genius mind of ruler Mercury, who brings Geminis a variety of pickings for intellectual growth. My writer friends are finding this sort of a space very conducive to their talents and making the most of it. One of them, is a doctor, who featured earlier too, in a calculation and discussion about the unquantifiable power of the mind, signified by the Chiron transit in Aries, since it rules the head. He has published an amazing book in the genre of sport, himself being an Aries. I read it and I admire the strength of independence running through his book. A travel diary, on a bicycle, across the landscape of a beautiful idea in his mind, of India.

Read. Write. If the month of Taurus brought us closer to music and musicians, the month of Gemini brings us closer to books. Literature, poetry, spoken word. There is great merit in the art of a good script without which no film can be made, not even the silent ones. The amazing acuity of Mercury in conveying so many inflexes, nuances and portrayals of the character-scope of the human experience is a wonderful thing to be a part of. Great for copywriters, those who need a quick idea for a concept their putting into words, great for understanding the great code generation. Also fantastic for tailors, pottery artists, abstract art, design thinking. Quick and easy is the brief, not necessarily memorable or sentimental. Geminis are just mental anyway, so you wouldn't expect anymore out of them. Typical of the Jupiterian vibes from Scorpio, who loves a good sense of humour. But watch out for the punishing result-driven influence of Saturn, who may not be very kind to artists and dreamers. A practical shade of execution, has to fit into the whole scheme and if you have other scheming friends from the Aquarian posse, jungles, cliques, meetings, or wherever you hang out with many people and discuss ideas, you may see that you do not need to know it all. A good friend will come through for you.

With that, we sign off. Enjoy the moon calender we have made, detailing notes from the Swiss ephemeris that keeps moontime accurate, as you scroll through June since the moon gives you a detailed view by each day, of the many sights Mercury is interested to see and play with, for his sometimes over active imagination. The moon prevails over the pen and sword, for she is always in cahoots with Jupiter. This parental psyche of the moon guides the young and androgynous Mercury into a submissive interest, but also a child-like exuberance, which we all, I'm sure, wish to see more of.

Have a great month!

We thank astro.com as usual for the ephemerides and charts we use.

You will find more on Minerva here and I hope it piques your curiosity and delights you as much as it did, an earthbound misfit, I. : https://www.jessicaadams.com/2018/05/28/minerva-astrology-cycles/

Saturn leaves Libra on October 5, 2012 and moves into Scorpio.

Saturn in Scorpio: An Angel in Devil's Clothing If you're a Libra, or any other Cardinal sign for that matter (Aries, Cancer, Capricorn), you might be heaving a sigh of relief over the news that Saturn has left Libra for good on October 5. Saturn in Astrology is the planet that represents lessons and limitations. He teaches us through stringent guidelines, and (whether we like it or not) in order to grow we must abide. Saturn is the stern parent that says "As long as you're living under my roof, you're going to do it my way." We have all been there. And as much as we've wanted to move out and go it alone, we knew we had to suck it up because the truth was that we just weren't ready to be on our own. We had to learn a few more lessons first. That's Saturn's job. He targets areas you're weak in and forces you to take a responsible, no nonsense, grown up approach as you handle the situation. The bad news? He does not offer a free...

THE MUSE OF REVOLUTION: URANIAN TRANSIT MAY 2018

Dear Reader I woke up today after a messy night of disturbed sleep, which at one point had me staring into the figure of a lady in white standing upside down. Now since I work with astral energies a lot, I could recognize that this was Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, (old ruler Saturn). Also represented as the star card in the Tarot. I also must add that I have over the course of my whole life, worked with Uranian energy very closely. Apart from Uranus, we have our asteroid Urania who is considered patron goddess of Astronomy. For those of you don't know, asteroid positions can also be charted using ephemerides that chart their courses. Our dear friend Roderick Kingston who passed away has worked all his life to study asteroids and their energies on the birth chart. Demetra George in her book ' Astrology for Yourself' also details some of the energies of asteroids like Vesta, Juno, Pallas Athene- who all are said to bring finer energies to play in the charts. Coming back to...

SPECIAL MOON CALENDAR FOR 2018-2019

Dear Reader I'm a big fan of following the lunar calendars of the world and constantly refer 2 to 3 different ones to find moon positions. Being a student and teacher of astrology, exact positions of planets, especially of the moon becomes very significant, for all purposes of astrology and other related disciplines. For the longest time, I have noticed that Vedic calendars do not include the signs of moon transit, example, Moon in Taurus on so and so days. Conversely, the western ephemeris of the moon has never charted the Vedic nakshatras or 27 lunar mansions, aka asterisms of the moon, in the same document. Researching on this topic, we find that there are 2 systems in practice today, which are the 27 asterisms and the 28 asterisms. What is 12* 51’ 3/7 = 360 divided by 28 days. That number is 12.8571428571428 7 days multiplied by 4 weeks = 28 days How many hours does the moon’s movement through each nakshartha take, in Sun hours? We know the moon takes 2 and a...
